Deliverable

Native SwiftUI app under ios/BackgroundVoiceAssistant/. Install via Xcode on a physical iPhone (iOS 18+). The simulator cannot validate car Bluetooth or cellular call recovery.

  • AVAudioSession playAndRecord + voiceChat + Bluetooth HFP
  • UIBackgroundModes = audio (no VoIP/CallKit misuse)
  • Interruption handling + automatic reactivation attempt after phone calls
  • Loopback transport for device tests; Twilio Media Streams stub for future wiring

Xcode install (Mac)

Download Xcode project (ZIP) Alternative: .tar.gz

  1. Unzip and open BackgroundVoiceAssistant.xcodeproj
  2. Copy Config/Secrets.xcconfig.example → Secrets.xcconfig and add Twilio API Key values
  3. Signing & Capabilities → select your Team
  4. Run on a physical iPhone → grant Microphone
